Chiang Rai
Thailand
Chiang Rai:
To the
Northeast of Bangkok, Chiang Rai is the gateway to the Golden
Triangle (area where Burma, Laos and Thailand come together).
Smaller than Chiang Mai and more mountainous, its proximity to
Laos and Burma (Myanmar) make it an easy day trip to jump over
the border for a few hours. Chiang Rai has plenty of shopping
and great places to eat. The night bazaar rivals the market in
Chiang Mai and stocked with hill-tribe handicrafts, and other
unique hand made gifts. There are plenty of guest houses and
hotels. Check out the Rim Kok Resort on the Kok River. Be sure
to get a Thai massage before and after shopping!
