Devil's Tower
Devil's Tower was declared
America's first national monument by President Theodore
Roosevelt in 1906. The tower itself rises 1267 feet above the
Belle Fourche River. The park itself spreads over 1347 acres
and is covered with pine forests, woodlands and grasslands. It
is populated with deer, prairie dogs and other wildlife. It is
sacred site for many American Indians known as Bears Lodge.
